The NYT ran a story in December, telling the story of a particular ingenious invention designed to train crows to fetch things (in this case, coins but other items were touted as possible as well) which would be exchanged for food. Simply, crows would do our dirty work of collecting trash, return it to a vending machine and be rewarded with food.
Well, apparently, that story included a few uncorroborated facts, which turned out to be less than true. The most important was the purported fact that the machine was tested at a zoo and worked. Never happened. In fact, it was tested but with less than stellar results.
Why am I telling you this? For no other reason than to have an excuse to write a story entitled 'NYT eats crow'.
