It's a sad day when even a monkey isn't free to horde an entire batch of ripe coconuts to himself. He found it, he earned it, stop it with all the welfare politics.
Great article profiling the practice of redistribution (of food, of course) across a number of different social species (well, other than the monkey, the rest of the examples are birds and bats... hmmm, flying creatures... is there a reason for that?) and the sanctions an individual might suffer if she fails to pitch in.
